Too Drunk to Wed

After getting our hair done for the wedding, my bridesmaids and I stopped at a drugstore (CVS, to be exact) to pick up some snack foods and a bottle of cheap champagne to drink while we got dressed. A bottle of champagne doesn't go very far between a handful of girls. We each got maybe a glass and a half of the bubbly.

I don't think the boys had time to have anything to drink before the ceremony-- and that's probably a good thing-- because in some countries,

Picture Book

First of all, let me say that I expected our wedding to be the best day of my life-- metaphorically. After all, it's the first day of our official life together, so why wouldn't it be the happiest of my life, right?

I wasn't expecting it to literally be the most fun I've ever had. But it was. I saw so many people for the first time in years. I hadn't seen Jason and Peter in two years, I hadn't seen Amy in three years, I hadn't seen Darren since 2001, Adam since 1999, Melina since 1998. True, there were a lot of people who couldn't make it-- and I really missed having people like Sandy, Nicki, Susan and Gretchen there-- but I think I would have been completely overwhelmed if they'd all made it.

Like I said in another post, I'm still piecing together the events from Saturday night-- so much happened. But the pictures are helping fill in some of the details. Cory and I got to see the first few sets of pictures from the wedding over the last couple of days. We went out to dinner with some family on Sunday night and peeked at a lot of digital photos (Still in camera). Then on Monday, our dj, Marq, brought in a bunch of pictures he took with a little disposable camera. They aren't the greatest photos in the world, but a few of them are pretty funny.

I took all of our disposable reception cameras to Walgreens yesterday-- they should be ready later today (yeah, I could have gotten one-hour processing, but I waited 37 years to get married... I can wait one more day to see some of the pictures!)

I promise-- the full wedding saga is on the way... starting with the days leading up to the wedding... and a crazy Friday the 13th.

Wedding Stories

Over the next few days (or weeks, or months as the fuzzy details slowly come back to me), I plan on posting stories and pictures from the wedding. Some are bizarre. Ok... actually, most are bizarre.

Monday's story: When we left our second reception (yep, we had more than one reception), we told people that they could take the flowers, leftover cookies, etc. Apparently, as everyone was driving to the bar (which we took over and kind of turned into our third reception), one of my co-workers was throwing little squares of cheese out of his car windows at other passing cars.

ETA

5 days till the wedding...

People are already starting to arrive.

Jan, Ann, Jim, and Connor -- aka mother of the bride, maid of honor and her family -- flew into Fort Myers on Friday night. KO and I had dinner with them all on Easter (great ka bobs, Jim!) and I went for a dip in the 86 degree pool...good stuff.

Tonight, my dad and my sister pull into town and check into their house -- also the site of the reception party -- good news...it's got a HUGE lanai...too bad the living space leading out to it isn't as open.

More peeps arrive Wednesday...

Everybody Panic!!!!

I had a little wedding panic attack the other day.

It started when I woke up from a wedding nightmare at 7:00 am and couldn't fall back asleep.

Then, around 8 am, I checked my email and The Weather Channel had been kind enough to send me a wedding-day forecast... that included thunderstorms.

Then, I had a bounce-back message from the woman who runs our ceremony site. The email I sent her never arrived. In my experience, a bounced-back email usually means that person doesn't work there anymore.

Then I got a phone call from the Salon. The woman who's been cutting my hair for the last six months-- and who was supposed to style my hair for the wedding-- and who is supposed to cut my hair on Tuesday quit. (I know... you should never get your hair cut the week of the wedding-- but I didn't have a choice-- and I trusted her not to screw it up).

Shit, shit, and shit. Commence panicing.

Things have improved (slightly) since then. For starters, the forecast has changed again-- it now says "mostly sunny" for our wedding day. Of course, the next day it's supposed to rain all day long... so things could change again... and not for the better.

Second, I finally reached the woman at the ceremony site. Apparently, they're updating the website and her email hasn't been working for two weeks. But she's still there-- and the wedding is still on-- weather permitting.

As for my hair.... well.....

A Good Night's Sleep

For the first time in about two months, I made it through a full night without a single wedding nightmare!

Hooray me!

More fuel for my Wedding Nightmares

And People Think Cory is Tall...

... he didn't even have trouble finding a tuxedo that would fit. I suspect Bao Xishun probably can't buy off-the-rack, though.

Turns out while the world's tallest man was out rescuing sick dolphins, his "people" were trying to find him a bride. She's half his age-- but at least she's more than half his height.
